Red Hat System Administration I (RH124)

Red Hat System Administration I provides a foundation for participants wishing to become full-time Linux system administrators by introducing key command line concepts and other enterprise-level tools. These concepts are further developed in the follow-on course, Red Hat System Administration II (RH134).

Program Objectives

At the end of the program, the participants will be able to :

  2. Manage physical storage
  3. Install and configure software components and services
  4. Establish network connections and firewall access
  5. Monitor and manage processes
  6. Manage and secure files
  7. Administrate users and groups
  8. Install and use virtualized systems
  9. Review the system log files and journal

Target Audience

This course is aimed at:

  • IT professionals across a broad range of disciplines who need to perform essential Linux administration tasks including installation, establishing network connectivity, managing physical storage, and basic security administration.

    This program is 5 days of intensive training class.

    Requirement

    There are no formal prerequisites for this course; however, previous operating system administration experience will be very beneficial.

    Assessment

    At the end of the program, the participants will be assessed with Red Hat System Administrator I (RH124) Exam.

    Award

    Red Hat System Administrator I (RH124) Completion Certification will be awarded upon successfully passing the exam from Red Hat. This certification is a pathway towards getting RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) Certification. RHCSA Certification is awarded after completion of Red Hat System Administrator I (RH124), Red Hat System Administrator II (RH134), and/or Red Hat System Administrator III (RH254).

    1. Copy, move, create, delete, and organize files from the bash shell prompt

    Module 3 : Get Help in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    1. Resolve problems by using online help systems and Red Hat support utilities

    Module 4 : Create, View, and Edit Text Files
    1. Create, view, and edit text files from command output or in an editor

    Module 5 : Manage Local Linux Users and Groups

    1. Manage local Linux users and groups, and administer local password policies

    Module 6 : Control Access to Files With Linux File System Permissions
    1. Set Linux file system permissions on files and interpret the security effects of different permission settings

    Module 7 : Monitor and Manage Linux Processes
    1. Obtain information about the system, and control processes running on it

    Module 8 : Control Services and Daemons
    1. Control and monitor network services and system daemons using systems

    Module 9 : Configure and Secure OpenSSH Service
    1. Access and provide access to the command line on remote systems securely using OpenSSH

    Module 10 : Analyze and Store Logs
    1. Locate and accurately interpret relevant system log files for troubleshooting purposes

    Module 11 : Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux Networking
    1. Configure basic IPv4 networking on Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems

    Module 12 : Archive and Copy Files Between Systems
    1. Archive files and copy them from one system to another

    Module 13 : Install and Update Software Packages
    1. Download, install, update, and manage software packages from Red Hat and yum package repositories

    Module 14: Access Linux File Systems
    1. Access and inspect existing file systems on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system

    Module 15: Use Virtualized Systems
    1. Create and use Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtual machines with KVM and libvirt

    Module 16: Comprehensive Review
    1. Practice and demonstrate the knowledge and skills learned in this course
